My First Novel: Noelle, Chapter 5

We are Engaged!

*reprint from Mod Magazine

“Why would you think that Kara is upset about Jason having a girlfriend?” Noelle and Frances are talking in low voices between the racks of Forever 21.

“Oh, so you don’t know.”

“I don’t know what? Tell me.” Noelle’s curiosity is heightened.

“Jason and Kara went out for awhile. Jason’s sister is Kara’s good friend. She introduced them on Kara’s first year here in Sing. They went out a few times but didn’t hit it off.” Frances was close to whispering. Kara was just somewhere in the accessories area.

“Why?”

“They decided to be friends. And so, he is now one of our friends.”

“Kara decided that?”

“She actually saw the possibility of him being a boyfriend despite her being older. But I don’t know what happened exactly. Maybe he is like most guys who prefer younger girls.”

Both ladies were startled at the sound of Kara’s voice, “Noelle!” She is rushing to them, “why is your boyfriend calling me?” and hands her Iphone to her.

“Oh thanks,” she accepts Kara’s phone. David was apparently calling her on her mobile phone but she forgot hers at the dorm. She moves away from her friends to talk to her beau.

“He just called to say he misses me,” Noelle told her friends when she got back.

“Oh, sweet,” her two friends purred.
***

“Hey, Mark is coming to Sing!” Noelle excitedly announces while in front of her laptop checking her emails.

“You have so many boys, Noelle. Who is Mark?” Kara asks drowsy from her afternoon nap.

“He is my good friend, a wonderful preacher from my charismatic community in Manila. He is single and cute,” winks at her roommate, “but I know he is still with her long-time girlfriend, Sophie.”

“Preachers are not my type.”

“He is asking if we can show him around the city.”

“Why am I in the equation? I don’t even know him!” Kara asks pretending to be disgusted with the idea.

“Because you are my roommate and my good friend,” Noelle explains with the sweetest voice she can muster.

“No, those are not the magic words,” Kara tells her friend then asks, “will you treat me to a mani, pedi and foot spa afterwards?”

Noelle thinks for awhile then says, “alright.”

“Count me in!” was Kara’s quick reply.

***

Noelle and Kara sits by the restaurant close to where her friend Mark was billeted. They are waiting for him and his girlfriend, Sophie.

Kara asks, “so, we’re not going to show him around anymore?” Noelle shakes her head. ”Bummer. What about our spa date? Is it still on you?”

Noelle looks at her and says, ”all right since you are a dutiful friend.”

Kara claps her hands and cries, ”yipee! Let‘s invite Frances. She will get jealous if she finds out.”

“Yeah, let’s ask her to join us but don’t tell her about my treat for you.”

“Yeah, let her pay for her own. She can very well afford it.”

“There’s Mark,” Noelle alerts her friend.

“He’s cute all right. He doesn’t look like a preacher.”

“What does a preacher look like?”

“Dunno,” Kara changes the subject as she notices a pretty, slim and fashionably dressed lady with him.” Who’s that with him?”

“His longtime girlfriend.”

“Is that why we are not going around the city anymore?” Kara was speaking in a low voice.

“Maybe,” Noelle replies and stands to greet the approaching lovely couple.

After the greetings and short introduction, Mark holds Sophie’s hands and announces, ”Sophie and I are engaged!”

Noelle was shocked. She could not believe that her friend Mark is getting married. Sophie shows off her 18 carat diamond ring as proof.

“That explains the glow around you two,” Noelle exclaims. The ladies congratulate Mark and wish them both well.

“We couldn’t be any happier,” Mark told them but he actually didn’t need to say it because it was written all over his face. Sophie’s pleasant face was a picture of joy and love. They made a nice pair.

Mark explained that city tour with Noelle is a back-up plan. In case, Sophie rejects him, he has company.

“The guy with a plan,” Sophie comments.”Apparently, my whole family knew about his plan and I was the last to know.”

Without much prodding, Mark narrated how he asked for her hand aboard PAL flight to Singapore. He made arrangements with his friend pilot, and the crew who were happy to oblige. So while they were 30,000 miles up in the sky, this young preacher asked his lady love to marry him and she accepted his proposal in front of her family who were traveling with them and some 200 or so strangers. The passengers and crew were delighted to witness a profession of love up close. Some even took their pictures, or had their pictures taken with them. It was fun, everybody was happy.
Everybody even Kara, everybody except Noelle. She could not take any more of this. She wants to bolt out of the room and head back to her bed. The sweetness of the two lovebirds was killing her.

If truth be told, she suddenly missed David. As soon as she got to the dorm, she calls him up. But he was not answering. She dials again and again but no reply. Then she thought maybe he’s out, with somebody, somebody prettier, somebody there. And the idea killed her. I pushed him to somebody else’s open arms, she thinks to herself. Oh, what have I done?

My First Novel: Noelle, Chapter 4

Jason Has a Girlfriend

*reprint from Mod Magazine, 2011

“I miss Chickenjoy,” Noelle declares as she looks around Lei Garden, a resto located inside Chijmes, during one of their weekly night-outs.

“Chickenjoy or Aga Muhlach?” Anton asks.

“Aga!” Frances and Noelle cries in unison.

“I am a big fan of Jollibee.”

“Really? Us too,” Frances reveals.

“No, I am not.” Anton chides his wife.

“Yes, you are,” Frances insists.

“I have an idea. Let us have lunch at Jollibee one time when we go home to Manila for Christmas.” Noelle was quite happy with her idea. The couple agrees.

“Guess what I did differently lately?” Kara butts in as she joins the group and takes her seat.

”I don’t think it’s your hair, still black,” Anton guessed. All three looked at her expectantly.

“Next day after our blessings game, I started writing my blessings. Everyday since, I wrote down all my blessings for the day. You know what’s amazing? My blessings kept getting more and more each day. Thursday I listed down 6, Friday 10, Sat 12…And when I read my list again, I realized some I’ve received in the past but didn’t recognize them as blessings. So, I think a grateful heart attracts blessings.

Frances repeats, “a grateful heart attracts blessings. Nice. I think I’ll post that as my shout-out on my Facebook.”

“Go, then I’ll “like” it.” Noelle tells Frances.

“So, you see it’s good not to have Martin around. You spend more time thinking and realizing wonderful ideas like this.” Frances smiles at her observation.

“Also, I thought why don’t we have an activity like it every time we meet? Kara suggests.

“And, what is that?” Anton sounded lost in the conversation.

“Sharing each other’s good news, good fortune, miracles. Whatever you call it.”

“Isn’t that what we do when we see each other?” Anton asks.

“Yes, but we only tend to see and celebrate only the big ones. Let us teach ourselves to see even the small good things too.”

“What have you been taking lately? You into drugs?”Anton acts as if he is deeply concerned. The other two laughs.

“Where is Martin, by the way?” Anton asks surprised that her pseudo-boyfriend is not with her.

“He can’t come tonight.”Kara replied.

“He is not coming ever again.” Frances declared matter-of-factly.

Anton was about to ask why but of course he knows why. He decides to joke about it but instead said, “you will find a better guy. Don’t worry, sister! I promise you a better guy is coming.”

Just then Jason comes in. Anton continues, ”in fact he is here.” Everybody turns to look at Jason.

“What are you guys up to?” Jason asks and looks at Anton .

“We were just saying how lucky we are to have a friend as good looking as you are,” Anton replies.

Kara quips, “Anton, I am beginning to think…” They all have a good laugh.

“Are we sharing our blessings again tonight?”Jason asks.

“Oh, somebody has some good news to share,” Noelle kids her seatmate.

“Did you get promoted, pare?” Anton asks Jason.

Jason replies, “no, well…I… do not know if it is even a good thing…but…anyway, my girlfriend Andrea is coming over for a visit.

“You have a girlfriend?” The ladies were all shocked and dumbfounded.

“No, yes ,I mean…yes. We lost touch when I came here. The other day she called me up, out of the blue and started talking about closure. We agreed to meet and see...” He meant to say, see how things will go between them.

“That Andrea better be nice to you or she won’t get back to Manila alive,” Frances said jokingly.

“Honey…” Anton gives her the look.

“But we have to protect our little brother here from heartbreak or heartache,” Frances says defensively. Jason is 28, about 3 years their junior. Noelle is the youngest at 25.

So, Jason has a girlfriend. Kara and Noelle are still processing this piece of news and both could not help but feel disappointed.

11 Things About Our 2011 Boracay Pilgrimage

After our first visit to Boracay together some years back, my good friend Rhei and I decided to make a pact- to pay homage to the most beautiful island beach in the world at least once a year. Since then, we have been religiously coming and going with different groups of friends and family members.

1. MEANT TO BE

All was set that this year, we will go on Oct 8 to 10 (Sat to Monday) with her high school friends. As early as Aug, we got our tickets and hotel booking. But a week before the date, I backed out because I couldn’t get myself to ask my boss for a leave on that Monday. We’re busy that week and I am relatively new in the office. So, with a heavy heart, I decided to forego the trip. Much to the dismay of Rhei. She even texted me, “I hate (my boss’s name).” That’s because I told her my boss asked me to attend meetings on the 6th (Thu) and 10th because I couldn’t tell her I was being a sissy.

But somehow, things worked out for our good. As it turned out, my “wish” (rather lie) came true. To make the story short, same week, I was assigned to attend meetings on the 6th & 7th in Iloilo (and 10th in Manila.). So, I thought, no sweat after my meeting in Iloilo, I will just take the bus to Caticlan and join Rhei and Regin, who went ahead Thu.

2. FREE PLANE TICKETS

Since I was attending meetings in Iloilo, I got free plane tickets. I just had to do was ask for my return flight to originate from Kalibo. I just had to pay for my fare from Iloilo to Boracay. Perfect!

3. SCARY

But things didn’t go smoothly as planned. My afternoon meeting in Iloilo finished at past 5. By the time, I got to the bus station, the last bus to Caticlan has already left. So, my assigned driver suggested I take the van instead. Fortunately for me, the public transport was new, with wide leg room and the seats were comfortable. Nothing untoward happened except for the heavy rain that drenched the city in a span of half an hour. And we waited for an hour before all seats got filled up. After that, we were off for a 4-hour long ride.

We finally got to Kalibo at quarter to ten. This was the scary part. All 12 passengers got off except for me, which means only the van driver and I will go to Caticlan. I thought what if, he decides to cancel the trip to Caticlan. After a while, one man passenger got in to my relief. But when I asked, he said he will get off at a nearby town. True enough, after 10 minutes, the man passenger got off. And it got scarier. The road was so dark, with only a few houses dotting the side of the road and fewer cars passing by. I was praying the whole time, even to my ally saints in heaven. ;p Fortunately, we got to Caticlan safely at close to 11.

4. INCONVENIENT

Despite the late hour, I was still hoping that there would be boats going from Caticlan port to Boarcay island. I didn’t want to spend the night at the pier. But I did. Boo-hoo.
I was told the next boat will leave at 5 am the next day. I called up Rhei to tell her about my misfortune and not to wait up. We were supposed to go to the bar for drinks. We both laughed at my tragic situation. Oh well, between getting stuck in Kalibo bus terminal to this, I preferred this. So, I still considered myself lucky.
Like the other 10 or so stranded passengers like me, I had late dinner and coffee at nearby Andok’s. When I got my spaghetti and coffee, I realized I was starving. They could’ve served me sand and I would’ve still eaten it with gusto.
After dinner, I settled for the night. I stretched on 5 blue plastic seats with my backpack as my pillow and fell asleep as the rain poured down. After a few hours of sleep, I woke up with more passengers around me and no more rain. The place was abuzz with people anticipating to ride the first boat. Finally at 5, we were told that the ticket booths were opened.

5. FANTABULOUS!

My disappointment over the previous night’s episode dissipated as I was led inside Discovery Shores. All the more, when I got to our room. Wow! The room was spacious and I liked its modern design, the minimalist bathroom, the comfortable bed and pillows. I hardly slept though because after my quick shower, my two friends were already up. We started chatting and spent the whole morning inside our room except when it was time for breakfast.

The buffet spread was lovely. The place was lovely. The swimming pool was lovely. I took a peek at the beach and yes, it was lovely. I was in beach heaven.

6. IT RAINED.

Everything was lovely except for the weather. It was windy and the sky overcast in the morning forboding of bed weather. And it rained later sometime noon. From then, it would abruptly rain at different times of the day and even at night. But I was in Boracay, my favorite place on earth. No rain can ruin my day. Except when we changed hotels.

7. TO THE BOONDOCKS

The next hotel we checked into was also nice except that we came from Discovery Shores. For me, nothing could match it. Not even Boracay Regency. And the second hotel was far away from the beach.

8. DAMPA

No visit to Boracay is ever complete without a visit to our favorite corner resto at Dampa. We had our heavy and sumptuous lunch there.

9. BEER, SHISHA and VIDEOKE

It was Saturday night and our last (at least for Rhei, Reg & I. The rest are staying until the 10th.) at Boracay so we went for Thai dinner, then at Bom-Bom Bar for drinks, music and shisha.

No shisha pics, censored hehe.

By wee hours of the morning, we walked to a videoke bar and sang and danced.

10. SUN

The sun was high up when we woke up the next day; we almost missed breakfast. Fortunately, we managed to get to the breakfast table before everything was packed up.

Boy, was I glad to see Mr. Sun. Off we went to the beach and spent our last hours in the white sands of Boracay.

11. AMAZING RACE TO THE AIRPORT

Rhei, Reg and I were seduced by Smoked’s delicioso Sizzling Bulalo for lunch. We ate leisurely and next thing we know, we were scrambling to get back to the hotel. We negotiated with a mamang trike driver to take us to the hotel, wait for us and take us to the port. That was the start of our Amazing Race Boracay.

We took the shortest shower ever in our lives. Mamang driver was surprised to see us in different clothes, and all packed in 10 short minutes. We put pressure on him to drive as fast as he can while we put on our make-up.

Everything went smoothly. When we got off his trike, he introduced us to an agent who sold us tickets to the boat and the van to take us to the airport directly. Big mistake, we shouldn’t have bought those tickets from him. Anywho, no harm done till we got to the van on the other side of the port.

We got to the van by 4pm. We told the van driver that our flight was at 7 and we need to be in the airport by 6. He said no problem but we’ll have to wait for passengers since there were just 3 of us. We needed 7 more to fill up his van.

My two friends used their Macs to find flights for their NZ trip to while away the time. By 4:30, we were antsy. After another, 15 minutes, we started bugging the driver. By 5, we were a bit furious. We said, we really had to go. And tothink he himself said Kalibo was an hour and a half away! He started the van but still kept waiting for passengers. Luckily, he got 2 and one of those was our angel in disguise.

To our dismay, the driver wasn’t driving as fast as he could. He was still on the look-out for passengers. I tried to sleep to get my head off our current situation. I left the nagging to Rhei.

But I prayed the rosary when I woke up and realized we were eons away from the airport. It was a big help getting my mind off killing the driver. You see, I had a meeting the next day, I had to board that last flight out to Manila. But I still managed to make one snide remark at the driver later.
By 5:45, one of the passengers offered to call up his sister who works at Zest Air to tell her of our predicament and see how she can help. Since the sister was off duty that day, she called up her colleagues at the airport, gave our names for pre-checking. But she also told her brother that we still had to get there by 6 or so. When the driver heard that, he drove like a maniac.

All the while Reg was pretty cool. And he shared we us later while we were having hotdogs and chili lumpia, a local delicacy for dinner, that he knew all the while that our flight was delayed because he was monitoring the flights online. I wanted to kill him. He could have spared us the useless anxiety. But I ate the last lumpia instead.

My favorite pic for this trip:

I hope he landed on his feet ;p

VG in SG!

More on our Sing trip!

"To do good work, one must eat well, be well-housed. Have one's fling from time to time, smoke one's pipe and drink his coffee in peace.-VVG"

Early this year, I tried to paint a Van Gogh. My favorite among his artworks, Field with Poppies. That, after buying this small booklet of his paintings and his life story. But till now, the white canvas remains as is, white. First, I haven't even finished the crowned prince and princess painting I started some months back...lah-di-da.

Anyway, going back to VG in SG...I was talking on the phone with my friend Mitzi, who just came from the Merlion city, back in July, when she started gushing about her visit to ArtScience Museum, with Ricky, her hubby, where VG's paintings were installed! I almost died of envy right there and then. (Good thing, I had yummy spaghetti lunch to look forward to. My title should read, how my yummy spaghetti saved me hehe.) But I said, I've no plans to go to the City of Fines this year. My plan is to go there next year with my mom and dad. So, VG will have to wait. But she said he can't, he's only there till Oct. Who knows where he's going next. It's SG now or never. But I thought, maybe, I'll see him in another city. In the next lifetime. Boo-hoo-hoo.

But what do you know, a few days or weeks later, another friend was enticing me to go to Sing. With VG on my mind, I said why not! And by Sept, I was engulfed and awashed by magnificence; amazed by the masterpieces of the the great Vincent. I could've stayed there all day in awe. But no, the "kids" were in haste. They wouldn't even let me see the presentation for the third time. I only saw it twice! We had to go ride The Flyer and buy a laptop, part of the agenda for the day.

Anywho, I'm posting here the pics we took inside the gallery. Taking pics inside is forbidden but as they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. In this case, disregard the signage and start shooting. Like everybody else. ;p

For the record, those are the only pics I took. The ff. were by my friends. In short, I've only 2 offenses. Them, a lot ;p

The culprits!

The culprits doing footsies! Ah-huh!

Quotable quotes from the eccentric artist:

"Great things are done by a series of good things put together."

"A good picture is equivalent to a good deed."
(Take that CCP and Mideo Cruz! But then again, "good" is subjective.)

"An artist needn't be a clergyman or a churchwarden, but he certainly must have a warm heart for his fellow men."

Facts You'd Probably Not Care to Know; But Since I Cared Enough to Write Down, Can You Just Pls. Read Along?

1. Van Gogh created approximately 900 paintings in 10 years. (Whoa! That's almost 2 paintings a week.) At one time, 80 paintings in 10 weeks!(That's more than one per day.)

2. Only sold 1 painting in his lifetime.
(Bummer! That's probably why he was depressed, distressed and cut off his earlobe. And not because of a disagreement with artist friend Paul Gaugin. Kidding. You want more cheez? My book says, he presented his earlobe or a portion of it, as some claims, to a prostitute in a brothel. Needless to say, but I'm saying anyway, he was mentally deranged that time. You can see in his lines, how troubled his mind is. Or heart. Mentally deranged but none the less, a master.)

3. Created his most famous painting, Starry Night (which inspired a song of the same title), inside an asylum in St. Remy de Provence, France.

4. VG wrote 800 letters in his lifetime. Mostly to his brother, Theo, whom he loved and who cared for him so.

5. VG shot himself in Auvers, France and died 2 days later at the age of 37.

6. Thanks to VG's brother's wife (no name given) who devoted herself to collecting VG's paintings and letters for his work to get due recognition, we now enjoy all these beauty.

My First Novel: Noelle, Chapter 3

Jason Has a Good Heart

*reprint from Mod Magazine, 2011

published on Mod Magazine

After a delicious dinner at Anton and Frances’s apartment and while the host was serving cake and coffee, Noelle suggests they play a game.

“I like playing games.”

Everybody got excited. Noelle gives them each a piece of paper and pen. She explains, “this is called the blessings game. Write down your name on top. When I say “go,” write down as many blessings you have received in your life, big or small. This will be timed for 1 minute,” she checks the timer on her phone.

“Then what?” Jason thinks it’s a lame game.

“I will tell you the rest later.”

“Hey, don’t be a sourpuss. Be a sport and just play along. Do as I say, you are under my roof.” Frances kids Jason.

“Yeah,” her husband supports her. Jason shakes his head and writes his name.

“What blessings?” Kara asks.”Give me an example.”

“Like for me, this scholarship, you my friends, my family, this wonderful dinner tonight.”

“David!” Kara declares to let Jason know they are still together. Jason looks at Noelle and she said yes to Kara silently.

“My handsome hubby,” Frances declares Anton as his blessings.

“Yes,” Noelle nods.

“Make sure you write her name too, Anton or it’s World War 3,” Jason was chuckling.

“I got a new client today,” Martin tells the group.

“Alright, so you guys get the idea. So let’s?” Everybody nods in agreement so they start.”Remember, big or small blessings.”

When the phone beeped, they were feeling good about writing down their blessings. They started counting and comparing what they have listed.

“All right. Next, turn to the other side of your paper. Write your name of top. When I say pass, pass your paper to your right. Once you get your seatmate’s paper, I want you to write down the blessings you think that he or she has received. Including his or her good traits and talents he or she is blessed with. Time here will be shorter. Ready? Pass.”

When they were done and each got their paper with their name on it, Frances told them to compare what they think are their blessings and what their friends think as good about them.

“Hey, what do you know somebody thinks I am sexy,” Anton announces and flexes his flabby arms. Then asks Frances, ”honey, did you write this?” To which his wife said yes. “Then you’re gonna get some sexy loving tonight.”

“Yuck,” Kara was pretending to barf. The group laughs.

“Would you guys want to share what is written on your paper?”Noelle asks her friends. They were game so each got a chance to talk about their blessings. When it was Frances turn, she told them about her promotion.

“Is that what this lovely dinner is for?” Kara asks and gives her friend a congratulatory hug. Anton was nodding.”My wife is now Managing Editor,” he said.

For the first time, Frances was speechless but was just beaming with joy and pride.

“Congratulations!”

“Thank God.”

“Let me shake your hand so I could be next,” Jason takes her hand laughing. The gang was having a great time tonight.

Later, Jason approached Noelle in the corner and asked, “did you make up that game?” She nodded. “It was fun. So, you count waking up in the morning as a blessing?”

“Yes. I believe it is God’s gift to me.” Noelle smiles.

“That is something I take for granted. That is a new and fresh insight for me.” He smiles at her. Oh, what a sweet guy, Noelle thinks to herself.

Suddenly he changes the subject that jolts Noelle, “so, you and David got back together? I am happy for you.” Noelle was nodding and said thank you. She saw his sincerity. He does have a good heart. That made her like him all the more.

singapore is now my favorite city...next to mla lang of course!

after my recent visit to singapore, it's now my favorite city for the ff. reasons:

1. trees lining up the streets

i love trees period.

2. the place is clean.

what else can i say?

3. people are friendly and mild mannered.

even when riding mrt, i don't feel rushed. the general pace is relaxed compared to hk. no pushing compared to the scenes in our mrt.

4. i love the artscience museum!!!

the lotus flower structure itself is a marvel. designed by architect moshe safdie, the museum is dubbed as the welcoming hand of sing.

i find the rain incubus fountain inside it, amazing. it's like an oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle.

sg is home to other numerous architectural wonders - esplanade, marina bay sands hotel, shoppes at marina bay, helix bridge, the flyer, changi airport...and the list goes on.

5. van gogh

just because, i saw van gogh's paintings there, when i think of sg now, i associate it with van gogh and vice versa. no actual paintings, just larger-than-life projection of his artworks on the walls. it was great being immersed in his colorful and mind-blowing creations. i could've stayed there all day. more on van gogh on my next blog.

6. nice malls (ion orchard & shoppes at marina bay are my faves) & stores (lv, chanel, gucci, h&m, sephora to name a few.

anybody knows when will a&f open? their board-up got us ladies excited.).
but i have to point out that i prefer manila's forever 21's merch mix & visual mdsg over sing's.

7. ice cream on the street

for an ice cream lover, this is a big plus. easy access to various flavors of this delish treat. though on all 3 occasions, i always stuck with triple chocolate and with the same manong hehe.

but, i have to say, our mamang sorbetero's cart is much more visually appealing.

8. mrt loop
very convenient & accessible, very easy to move from one loop to another.

except for the funny smell in the trains though. good thing, i came prepared. i brought my ever reliable "armas," panda ointment. it's a must for ever travel outside the country.;p

9. changi airport
(pronounced chan-yee)

t1's arrival toilets are spacious; departure comparable to 4-star hotel's. i like the idea of putting a low sink for kids. free foot massage!!! just don't forget to wear socks. even their airport tubes are carpeted! elevated train, smrt, from one terminal to another. you can start your tour right inside the airport grounds!

10. good roads

no potholes. no traffic, or at least, our ride to the airport was a breeze. i have to note that this was on a sunday night. but even our short ride from marina to bugis on a saturday night was quite quick. you see, mostly, we rode the mrt. so, i couldn't say for sure. but i do envy their smooth roads.

11. great cars

audis, beemers and benzes are quite a common sight. with sports cars here and there.

in my visit in 2008, i saw a bentley for the first time, up close! i even grazed my hand over it. haha!

12. yummy foodie

while rhei loves fried prawn noodles and ate it every meal for 3 days!!!

jesson feasted on pork & at times roasted hainanese chicken.

while, i ate hainanese chicken rice, soup noodle (i didn't take note of the name) and the fried prawn noodles.

13. snow city!

i don't like snow because it's cold. and that you have to wear thick jacket and boots etc. but the tube ride, i like!

even after 3 rides, i wanted to go back for more.

14. serene

singapore has a special place in my heart because of my friendship with serene, my first and only singaporean friend. visiting her country 3 years back was a happy one for me. she was gracious enough to drive me around, with my also first-timer friend sylvia and my cousin janet, who used to work there, in her benz. how cool was that!
and treated us to dinners at upscale restos.

unfortunately though, i didn’t see her this sept because she was on work tour in south america. but i’m looking forward to meeting her again on my next visit in feb. and hope to have a great time with her & my friends in my favorite city outside the philippines!

p.s.

as in any trip, the best part is having fun people to be goofy with. at least on pics. thanks to rhei & jesson! had a wonderful time with you guys!

ganda na sana, panira naman si manong ;p

rhei found something she likes but cannot buy, kaya hanggang posing na lang.

vote for the silliest pose. but keep it to yourself.

the failed jumpshot which we blamed on the digicam, of course.

and our best jumpshot, in the funny category, with the title, "lion king, mufasa, and the elephant." which is who? ;p
